Do you think that you are prepared for "The Big One"? Many of us say that we are, but once we really think about it most of us aren't prepared for any type of earthquake. I'm one of those many people that aren't prepared, but little by little my family and I are starting to be prepared. When I was first given this assignment I thought that I was really prepared, but I was wrong. I first started to talk to my mom about us being prepared. At first she didn't listened to me but then she realized that many little earthquakes have been happening and she told me that I had a point. We were already prepared by having gallons of water in the kitchen. We haven't bought all the supplies that we need to be prepared but we are doing that little by little. It is really important to have all of these supplies, for example, first aid kit, canned foods, water, clothes, etc. to at least survive for 3 days to a week, until we get some help. Another important thing that i have talked to my is that if we are not together if an earthquake happens where will we go and we both agreed that we should have at least 4 plans. The first one would be the 3 people that are in my emergency card which are a close family friend, my aunt, and my cousin. The last person would be my other cousin because those people live the nearest to me. Also we talked about where would be go for shelter my mom said that some hospitals offer shelter in case of an emergency. She said that the hospital that offers shelter is the General Hospital. The only thing would be transportation but we both knew that if something happens we would I guess "team up" with a close family friend which lives 3 blocks down my house. We are not FULLY prepared but we already know what we should do to be prepared, now that I have gotten my mom involved in this project.
